From the top of the treetops, Arbor Annie has scouted out the must-do themes for July. Burst into 4th of July celebrations, than keep cool as you splash through the month
Arbor Annie’s Flight Plan is a new feature for 2026. Each month, it will give an overview of the full month. It will generally have less of a focus on events, and more on general activities.
Festive Fly-Bys
4th of July festivities that started at the end of June continue to start July. Don’t miss the fireworks, festive concerts, and parades.
Swoop Down to Fairs & Festivals
July is a big time for the non-ride fairs and festivals in the Ann Arbor Area.
The big one is Ann Arbor Art Fair.
But, don’t miss out on MIchigan Celtic Festival.

Take a Break with these July Layovers
Summer is the perfect time to take a break!
When the heat is out of control, be sure to check out our Beat the Heat Parent Survival Guide for ideas on where to beat the heat – both indoors and outdoors.
When the temperatures are more manageable, playgrounds are the perfect summer layover. Pack a lunch or dinner (or pick up take out on the way to the park) and enjoy your layover!
Splash Down to Cool Off
With summer weather, you’re sure to need to cool down at some point. We’ve got all the details on Outdoor Pools, lakes, and Water Parks.
You can also switch transport modes and trade the wings and sky for a paddle and the river. Check out these options for kayaking and tubing.
In-Flight Entertainment & Snacks
Of course we don’t want you to get bored on the flight! No worries, Ann Arbor has plenty of entertainment lined up for your summer! From summer concerts to outdoor movies, there is plenty of entertainment on tap.
Both Cinemark & Emagine are running discount summer movie series. (Emagine had a big price increase for 2026, so we recommend the Cinemark program).
Summer is also a time for Reading! Check out local bookstores or libraries to stock up on books to complete your summer reading programs. And, head to AADL to play the Summer Game.
Summer means both Farmers Markets and u-pick farms. Farmers Markets are in full swing with options almost every day of the week. In July, look for cherries (a short season to start the month), blueberries, and summer raspberries. Lavender season takes off closer to the middle of the month. Sunflower season starts from mid-July to August depending on the varieties that different farms offer.
