Lavender Bliss: Serene Lavender Fields near Ann Arbor

There are several family-friendly Lavender Farms near Ann Arbor that offer visits and u-pick lavender. A trip to the lavender fields is tons of fun for the kids – as long as they aren’t allergic to lavender. What is more magical in the summer months than hanging out among the fresh blooms.

When Does Lavender Bloom in Michigan?

There are two varieties of Lavender – English Lavender and French Lavender. English Lavender plants typically bloom first. Followed a week or so later by the French Lavender.

Lavender farms in Michigan are typically open from late June through early August depending on the season.. Peak bloom is usually in mid July.

Hamlett Lavender Farm offers u-pick Lavender during their first weekend. Subsequent weekends will offer farm tours, but not u-pick. They also have chickens and ducks with eggs available – 1 dozen chicken eggs or 1/2 dozen duck eggs for $4.

About DeBuck’s Family Farm

DeBuck’s Family Farm offers a variety of family fun. In the summer, they have lavender and sunflowers. In fall, they have a corn maze and pumpkin patch. The family fun area with other attractions like Bounce Pads, Human Foosball, pedal trikes, and more is now open for the summer festivals as well as fall.

Lavender Tips

Lavender season is more robust than some fruit picking. Typically, the fields do not ned to close for additional stems to bloom.

What to Bring:

  • Dress for the weather. We have picked when it was hot in July and cool in September.
  • Gloves may be a good idea to protect your hands
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug spray
  • Water – make sure to stay hydrated
  • Pre-Buy your tickets if needed.
  • Check with the farm to see if you need to bring your own clippers.
