From the top of the treetops, Arbor Annie has scouted out the must-do themes for June. As June starts, I think we’re all running on fumes and coasting into summer.
Arbor Annie’s Flight Plan is a new feature for 2026. Each month, it will give an overview of the full month. It will generally have less of a focus on events, and more on general activities.
Handle the Layover
Just as a layover on your flight changes your direction, June starts with a similar transition – from the school year to summer mode. First, there are end of school celebrations including Ice Cream Socials – while the high schoolers are busy studying for finals and wrapping up their sports and extra curricular seasons.
Once, school ends, Ann Arbor transitions to summer mode. First, the AADL Summer Game kicks off on Tuesday, June 9 and runs through the entire summer. Then, on Friday, June 12 Top of the Park kicks off and runs through June 28
Festive Fly-Bys
June has no shortage of special weeks and holidays. The month kicks off with A2Zero Week. Then, we’ve got Ann Arbor Japan Week.
Then, we’ve got Juneteenth and Father’s Day.
Splash Down to Cool Off
With summer weather, you’re sure to need to cool down at some point. We’ve got all the details on Outdoor Pools and Water Parks. They start their full hours once school is out for the season.
You can also switch transport modes and trade the wings and sky for a paddle and the river. Check out these options for kayaking and tubing.
When you’re ready to take-off again on your flight, local carnivals will help the kids get off the ground with some of their high flying rides.

In-Flight Entertainment & Snacks
Of course we don’t want you to get bored on the flight! No worries, Ann Arbor has plenty of entertainment lined up for your summer! From summer concerts to outdoor movies, there is plenty of entertainment on tap.
Both Cinemark & Emagine are running discount summer movie series. (Emagine had a big price increase for 2026, so we recommend the Cinemark program).
Summer means both Farmers Markets and u-pick farms. Farmers Markets are in full swing with options almost every day of the week. Plus, it’s the start of farm season with strawberries season kicking off in June.
