The Firecracker 5K is typically run in Downtown Ann Arbor before the Ann Arbor Jaycees Parade.
Currently (2/25/2023), the Firecracker 5K says it is in Downtown Ann Arbor. The Ann Arbor Jaycees Parade announced on February 25 that the parade is moving to Briarwood Mall due to downtown construction. The Course Maps for the 1 mile and the 5K are for downtown, but don’t seem to reflect the summer construction schedule on State and Main. Previously, in 2021 the Firecracker 5K was held around Briarwood Mall.
Before registering, be prepared for the race to be either downtown or at Briarwood.
There are three race distances with a couple of special divisions for the 5K:
- Firecracker 5K
- Flag Carrying Division
- Ray’s Red Hots Hot Dog Eating Contest
- One Mile Fun Run
- Kids 200-Meter Dash – Free (Ages 8 & under)
Kids 10 & under race free in the 1 mile or 5K.
Registration cost:
- Before March 31 – $40
- April 1-May 31 – $45
- June 1-June 26 – $48
- June 27-July 4 – $50
For the Hot Dog eating contest, you will eat 4 hot dogs in 76 seconds before starting your 5K.
