NOTE THIS EVENT HAS ALREADY OCCURRED
The 2020 Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade is canceled due to social distancing. But they are going virtual for 2020!!
The Virtual Parade was shared on Facebook at 10a. We watched it live, but have included the video below (note the volume changes throughout the original video):
You can catch the parade on our Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade Goes Virtual. We have tips for both spectators and participants Saving Information below for 2021. The Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade will be held at 10a on Saturday, July 4th. The parade starts on State St at Liberty, proceeds north on State to Washington, heads west on Washington to Main, south on Main St to Liberty St, and east on Liberty back to Maynard. The parade is typically one block further south – William/State/Liberty/Main/William. However with the construction on William, they moved it north a block.
Participating in Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade
We have participated in the Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade every year since 2009. We were with my daughter’s preschool for several years. My daughter has also walked with the Girl Scouts. One year the Girl Scouts were not participating, so she decided to return as an alumni to her Preschool rather than just observe. As participants, we usually bring candy to hand out to parade spectators. I definitely recommend a wagon or a vehicle because you will need a lot of candy for the mile long parade route.
Join the Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade
All kids are invited to participate in the parade. They are encouraged to decorate a bike and ride along. You must show up by 9:30a and sign a waiver for your child. Note this year there is not a contest or goody bag for those who decorate a bike.
Ann Arbor Jaycees Fourth of July Parade Recommendations
As a parade participant in past years, I have seen the whole parade route. With the change of route, it’s a little hard to predict where the crowds are. Typically, Main Street and State Street are the most crowded. Looking at the map, the Liberty to Washington Block is shorter than the William to Liberty block, so I expect State and Main Street to be even more crowded than normal.
