Soar into March with Arbor Annie’s Flight Plan

From the top of the treetops, Arbor Annie has scouted out the must-do themes for March.

March in Ann Arbor arrives with its trademark “mood swings”—a teaser of spring sunshine one day and a swirl of snow another with plenty of rain in between. This month is packed with reasons to celebrate, from the clever fun of MAR10 Day and the “infinite” deliciousness of Pi Day to the emerald glow of St. Patrick’s Day.

March is Reading Month with a tour of our favorite local bookstores, and we’re even getting a head start on April’s biggest spectacles. It’s time to start prepping for Easter egg hunts and visiting the FoolMoon luminary workshops to get those “Fools of a Feather” wings ready for takeoff. Whether you’re grabbing a scoop on Free Cone Day or gearing up for the home stretch before Spring Break (starting March 30!),

Arbor Annie’s Flight Plan is a new feature for 2026. Each month, it will give an overview of the full month. It will generally have less of a focus on events, and more on general activities.

Outdoor Adventures

The warmer spring temperatures have the sap flowing in maple trees. Take a journey back through time to learn about traditional maple sugaring methods. Warmer temperatures also mean piles of snow are melting and the ground is thawing. That can lead to big puddles on the playground. We’ve got a list of mess-free playground – those with rubber mats to minimize the muddy mess.
