Dexter Community Pool
Dexter Community Pool offers the chance for residents to swim all winter long – on select days.

Saline Recreation Center
The Saline Recreation Center offers both a lap pool and a leisure pool.
The leisure pool is 50’x25′ with a zero-depth entry. Depth ranges from 1’9″ to 4′. The pool is kept fairly warm at 86-88F.
The lap pool is 25 yards long with 6 lanes and a zero depth entry ramp and a diving board. It is maintained at 80-83 degrees.
A family locker room is available.

Goldfish Swim School is a popular location for swim lessons among local families.
They typically offer an hour long Family Swim several times a week.

Whitmore Lake Community Pool
The Whitmore Lake Community Pool is located at Whitmore Lake High School. It is a very affordable indoor swim option – $3 for ages 3+ – and if you are a Whitmore Lake schools resident, you can get a pass for free admission.
They offer both lap swim and open swim times.
You can look for open swim times on their calendar. The general schedule seems to be:

Mack Pool
Ann Arbor Parks operates Mack Indoor Pool. Mack Pool is co-located with Ann Arbor Open School. Mack Pool offers open swim, lap swim, and swim lessons. They also offer the Octopods swim team.
My daughter has spent plenty of time in the pool at Mack. She took lessons there when she was in preschool. Then, she attended Ann Arbor Open for 9 years and had weekly swim lessons at Ann Arbor Open from K-6th grade. She also swam on the Mack Manta Rays Swim Team (the predecessor to the OctoPods) for 4 years.

Cameron Pool
Cameron Pool is located in Chelsea’s Beach Middle School
They offer public lap swim, open swim times, preschool swim, and pool rentals.
Note: the pool is closed during school holidays and when the schools are closed due to inclement weather. It may also be closed when swim teams are using the pool

Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center
Closed for Renovations
Pool demolition began in July 2025. There will be new family changing rooms and saunas, a new more energy efficient masonry wall will replace the deteriorating glass block wall. Lighting will be upgraded as will the HVAC and ductwork.
Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation operates the Meri Lou Murray Recreation Center. Their facility has an indoor pool which offers Open Swim daily as well as Family Fun Night on Friday nights. Daily admission is available.
In addition to Open Swim and Family Fun Night, they offer open lap swim times. Kids swim lessons are available. For adults, they also offer water aerobics.
As a toddler, my daughter took parent/child swim lessons at Meri Lou Murrary Rec Center through Pittsfield Township, but they no longer offer them.

Indoor Water Parks
In addition to indoor pools, there are two nearby indoor water parks. While both offer hotel packages, they are both an easy day trip from Ann Arbor. They offer both full and half-day rates.
Zehnder’s Splash Village
Zehnder’s Splash Village in Frankenmuth expanded almost 10 years ago. My daughter and I visited with friends over mid-winter shortly after they opened the new section. The new expansion is bright and airy with a new family raft slide, a drop slide, a second lazy river and a pool area. The original area offers two tube slides, play structure, kids play area, and more. We reviewed the original section in 2013 but never wrote up on our 2016 visit. The original Splash water park has recently had glass walls added. I can’t wait to see new photos from the inside.
They have limited capacity. It is recommended to book your day tickets before driving up from Ann Arbor. Get more details on their website.

Our list below includes some drop-in swim times and events at the indoor pools. We have seen a definite decrease in swim related events. Ann Arbor Parks used to offer events like swim with a mermaid, log rolling, family fun day, and dive-in movies. It has been several years since we have seen those offerings.
