Each year Dairy Queen Free Cone Day is typically on the first day of spring.
On Free Cone Day at DQ, each customer gets a free small vanilla cone. Donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® are encouraged. Typically the local Ann Arbor Dairy Queen locations will upgrade your free cone to a dipped cone for a $1 donation.

Our Past Experiences
For 2022 & 2023 free cone day we headed to the Stadium Blvd location in Ann Arbor after picking my daughter up at Skyline. In 2022, we were lucky to make it before the kids who walked there from her high school and in 2023 she walked half-way since I was running late and picked her up to drive the rest of the way.
In 2017, we both enjoyed a Dairy Queen Free Ice Cream Cone with cherry topping ($1 donation for each). Personally, I love that they let my daughter get hers in a cup which she prefers.
2016 was the perfect day for Free Cone Day. It was t-shirt weather. We went right after school. While there was a short line, it moved quickly.
If your kids aren’t in school yet (or you’re a work at home empty nester like me), I recommend stopping by at lunch/early afternoon before the after school crowds.
