Dairy Queen Free Cone Day

Dairy Queen Free Cone Day 2020

Each year Dairy Queen holds Free Cone Day on the first day of spring. I have not seen an official 2020 announcement on their website or Facebook.

On Free Cone Day, each customer gets a free small vanilla cone. Donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® are encouraged.

Dairy Queen Free Cone Day

I have not seen an official announcement from Dairy Queen, on the date for Free Cone Day. I have seen some websites reporting March 19 and others reporting March 20. Spring officially starts the evening of March 19 and I found a CMN Hospital listing that as the date. However, it has traditionally been March 20.

In the meantime, Dairy Queen is celebrating their 80th birthday with buy one, get one blizzard for $0.80. The deal runs through March 15. I will be checking their social media and contacting local Dairy Queens the week before the event. My guess is they will not announce Free Cone Day until this promotion ends.

Our Past Experiences

In 2017, we both enjoyed a cherry topped treat ($1 donation for each). Personally, I love that they let my daughter get hers in a cup which she prefers.

2016 was the perfect day for Free Cone Day. It was t-shirt weather. We went right after school. While there was a short line, it moved quickly. Last year, free cone day did not fit our schedule, so we skipped it.

If your kids aren’t in school yet, I recommend stopping by at lunch/early afternoon before the after school crowds.
