Make Your Plans for FoolMoon and FestiFools

It’s time to start planning for FoolMoon and FestiFools 2018. There are workshops throughout March to help you get involved. Personally, I am thrilled that there is not a conflict with Spring Break this year.

Festifools 2017 - Library Group

Since the first FestiFools in 2007, it has become an Ann Arbor tradition. FoolMoon was added for 2011. WonderFool Productions is the non-profit organization that organizes both events.

FestiFools

The 2019 FestiFools Parade is on Sunday, April 7 at 4p.

Festifools 2015

FestiFools is a one hour street parade on Main Street featuring giant handmade paper-mache puppets made by community members including UM student groups. Β Anyone is welcome to make their own creation to join in or to simply watch from the sidelines. For families wanting to participate, your best bet is to join the Ann Arbor District Library in their build and costume workshops. FestiFools runs one hour from 4-5p.

FoolMoon

For 2019, FoolMoon is on Friday, April 5. This year, the party is just in Kerrytown.

FoolMoon is a nighttime spectacle. In addition to the luminaries, there are laser shows, interactive installations, DJs, live dance, and more.

We have never attended FoolMoon. We are often away (or leaving town that night) because of spring break or this year my daughter’s camping with Girl Scouts. On the years we have been home, the weather has been bad or we had other plans. It is on my calendar for this year.

In 2016, WonderFool Productions expanded their offerings with a new Halloween event – YpsiGLOW. We enjoyed the 2016 YpsiGLOW. I expect the 2019 single location is more like YpsiGLOW.

FoolMoon and FestiFools Workshops

If you want to do more than watch from the sidelines, there are several workshops scheduled to help you get involved. Workantile hosts several luminary workshops for FoolMoon. The Ann Arbor District Library also hosts FestiFools workshops for their puppet and to make costumes to join the parade with them.
