Winewood Thaler Park Description
Winewood Thaler Park has two play areas. Near Carolina Ave is a small structure and merry-go-round. Closer to Winewood is a play area with swings and a sandbox. Both areas have been supplemented with community toy additions – sandbox toys, ride-ons on the half-basketball court, chairs, and even a tot slide. Of course, you can’t count on the same communal toys being available on every visit.
Our visit focused on the play area with the structure and the basketball court. My daughter is much more about structures than swings or a sandbox.
My daughter loves the parks with Merry Go Rounds. She ran for it as we walked up.
My daughter loved the flexible bridge on the structure. She was determined to jump from one end to the other, but couldn’t quite make it.
Even at age 12 and 5’2″, she could not resist the dinosaur bouncers.
This area of the park has a half-basketball court. On our first visit, there were a couple of Little Tykes Cozy Coupes on the court. When we visited a couple years later to refresh the playground profile, the cozy coupes were gone. There was a radio flyer wagon left at the park.
The other play area has swings and a sandbox. The swings and sandbox get afternoon shade. When we visited in August 2021, the sandbox was in need of a refresh. There were lots of weeds growing and it was more like packed dirt than sand. A week later I visited another playground that had just had its sand refreshed. Hopefully Winewood Thaler’s sandbox will receive a refresh soon.
