February Bucket List for Ann Arbor Families

February is a short month, but there’s no shortage of activities in Ann Arbor.

We’re starting a new feature – the monthly Bucket List challenge. Unlike Arbor Annie’s Highlights that are issued each week and focus on events, the Bucket Lists will focus more on activities that can be done any time throughout the month.

February Food Bucket List

There are two big Food Events in February.

The first Saturday of February (February 7) is Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. We were introduced to this by GO! Ice Cream and made it an annual tradition. Sadly they are no more. But, Washtenaw Dairy and Blank Slate are both offering Ice Cream for Breakfast specials. Even if you can’t make it out to one of their events, you can enjoy ice cream for breakfast at home.

Paczki Day is the Tuesday before Lent starts (Tuesday, February 17 this year). But, there are some places that you can get paczki earlier in the month.

Embrace Winter in February

Late January was not very conducive to outdoor activities with high temperatures in the teens and lows with wind chill at or below zero. Hopefully, through February we will start seeing warmer temperatures that will let us get outside.

Check out a sledding hill, explore a playground in the snow, or go ice skating.

Escape Winter Indoors This February

Of course, there is always the option to take a temporary escape from the winter.

Pretend it’s summer and go for a swim at an indoor pool. Or, it’s always toasty warm in the Conservatory at Matthaei Botanical Gardens.

Visit a local museum. We have some great museums in the Ann Arbor area.
