Hamburg Township’s Manly Bennett Park West Park

Hamburg Township’s Manly W. Bennett Park sits just outside Washtenaw County in the Township of Hamburg. We have included it in our playground roundups as it hosts the Hamburg Fun Festival and is close to the County Line.

Manly Bennett Park West Park Description

Manly W Bennett Park is split into East and West Park. East Park’s playground is being upgraded in early 2023, so we are only publishing the playground profile for West Park.

The playground features a single structure with side by side slides from the main tower. From that tower there is a tube that can be used to slide down to a lower platform – or you can climb up it to the tower.

The lower platform has a slide that is perfect for tots. However, while the slide is low the climb to it is not super tot-friendly. There are stools to climb, or you can slide down the tube from the upper platform.

The other entrance to the lower platform is via hanging steps of alternating height. To the right of these steps are floating islands on poles (not pictured). Combined these are a challenge to older kids who can then climb up the tube to the taller slides.

In addition to the structure, there are two spinners – one for sitting and one for standing.

Manly Bennett Park has a shelter that is perfect for a picnic. The building has a window that looks like it might be a snack bar- perhaps when there are soccer games.

The other thing that makes Manly Bennett Park West stand out is the adult fitness area. It is perfect for adults to get a workout while the kids are on the playground (either by trading off, or if they are old enough to stay on the playground alone). You can see the playground from most of the equipment in the workout zone.

Events at Manly Bennett Park West Park

Manly Bennett Park is the location of the Hamburg Fun Fest each June. It has numerous soccer fields. There is also a disc golf course on the other side of the tree line from the playground and workout area.

The day I visited they were preparing to host a large soccer tournament.

Beyond Manly Bennett Park West Park

Manly Bennett Park has two sections – East Park and West Park. While we visited both and gathered information in August 2022, the East Park is being replaced in spring 2023, so we have only published the West Park profile. We hope to return in early summer 2023 to add a new East Park profile.

In addition to the playground, East Park is the home to the municipal office, a remote control field, and a football field.
