They’re huge, they’re blue, and they’re one of Michigan’s most recognizable birds. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the Great Blue Heron join us for a short presentation on heron life history, including what they eat, how they live, and what they’re doing. Then we will hit the trail for a walk outside to observe the rookery (where they’re nesting and laying eggs) to hopefully see some of these amazing birds.
What to Expect:
This program starts indoors, ends outside. The time, approximately 45 minutes, will be spent on a leisurely walk with frequent stops. Expect to walk about 1 mile. We will conclude at the Nature Center. The planned path is dirt and gravel, mostly flat and level, includes some bridges and boardwalks, and is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. No prior experience is necessary. For maximum enjoyment, some of our time will require all participants to patiently remain quiet and listen closely.
For ages 13+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Register by 4p the day before the event.
