Expand and celebrate your cultural horizons in Threads of Rhythm, scheduled during Arab American Heritage Month.
This special interactive performance for families invites you to explore music and dance from the Arab World. Led by Chloé Gray of Ypsilanti’s Fun Girl Dance Company and music educator and oud player Raphique Barakat, the event will focus on the dabke, a traditional line-and-circle folk dance featuring energetic stomping, jumping, and kicking to rhythmic music. It’s a symbol of community that is often performed at weddings, festivals, and other cultural events.
The event is free with registration. It is family friendly (ages 4+). The event is repeated on Sunday, April 12 at 11a.
