All Aboard! At Crossroads Village Day Out with Thomas™️

Your child who loves Thomas the Tank Engine™️ will have a blast at Crossroads Village Day Out with Thomas™️ in August 2026! At this family event, they will get to ride a train pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine, hear Thomas stories, see Thomas toys, and so much more.

My daughter was a big fan of Thomas the Tank Engine™️ as a toddler and preschooler. She read the books, watched the movies, and played with the trains – both the wooden trains and the LEGO DUPLO trains that were made at the time.  We also attended Day Out with Thomas™️ at Crossroads Village (and the Henry Ford). It was a definite rite of passage for her.

Day Out With Thomas™️: Let’s Rock, Let’s Roll Tour.

Each year Thomas the Tank Engine™️ tours across the US and Canada making stops at various venues. The 2026 theme is Let’s Rock, Let’s Roll Tour. We have been lucky to have two Michigan Thomas the Train stops. Greenfield Village in Dearborn in April/May and Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad in Flint in August.

Crossroads Village & Huckelberry Railroad in Flint will still be hosting Thomas the Tank Engine™️ for Day Out with Thomas™️ in August! When I originally wrote this article on the afternoon of February 24, I was uncertain of the status of the Crossroads Village Day Out With Thomas™️. It was listed on the Crossroads Village website, but not the Day Out With Thomas website. Later in the afternoon, they posted on Facebook that they were finalizing arrangements. As of this morning (February 25), they are now listed on the Day Out With Thomas™️ website for August 14-16 & 21-23 (Tickets available soon).

Sadly, in February 2026, The Henry Ford announced they will no longer be hosting Day Out with Thomas™️.

Thomas the Tank Engine™️ will be at Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad in Flint for Day Out with Thomas on Friday-Sunday August 14-16 and again from Friday-Sunday August 21-23. Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad are a little over an hour from Ann Arbor. At Huckleberry Railroad, Thomas pulls carriages that look more like Annie and Clarabel (Thomas’s carriages) than the open carriages at Greenfield Village.

Activities at Day Out with Thomas™️

One of the highlights for my daughter was always playing with the Thomas train tables. A word of warning, trains are provided for play. If your child brings their own trains to the event, it is best to keep them off of the tables so they don’t get mixed up with the provided trains.

One cool feature of Day Out With Thomas™️ at Crossroads Village is the hay maze. The kids love exploring and it’s just the right size for them.

Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad

Crossroads Village is a typical Great Lakes village from the turn of the 20th century. Huckleberry Railroad is a steam train that operates around the Village with a 40 minute ride. Crossroads Village is part of the Genesee County Parks System. It is located in Flint, about an hour drive north from Ann Arbor.

Crossroads Village features 34 historic structures, villagers, and more. Kids won’t want to miss their historic amusement rides – a historic Wheel, Carousel, mini-train, Venetian gondolas, and pony carts. My daughter loved riding the Venetian gondola with dad.

  1. My three year old would love this! As would my 6 year old! I’m not even sure they have a favorite character, but seeing a real life Thomas would make them glow!
