Thomas Pulls into Greenfield Village

Does your child love Thomas? My daughter was a big fan of Thomas as a Toddler and Preschooler. She loved the annual Day Out with Thomas event. It was such a treat for her to be able to ride on Thomas and participate in the Thomas activities.

About Day Out With Thomas

Each spring Greenfield Village’s hosts Day Out with Thomas, typically on 3 weekends in April and May. This year’s dates are April 28-29, May 5-6, and May 12-13. We attended Day Out with Thomas at Greenfield Village twice when my daughter was younger.

We really enjoyed Day out With Thomas each time that we attended. My daughter loved getting to ride on Thomas and having her picture taken with him. They also had lots of activities including story time, stamps, play tables. She also enjoyed exploring Greenfield Village.

Day Out With Thomas - Riding the Train with her aunt

I recommend Day Out with Thomas for families with children age 4 and under. Even at 4, my daughter was as interested in exploring Greenfield Village as she was in participating in the Thomas the Train activities. We visited Greenfield Village on a Thomas weekend when she was 5, and she did not even ask about any of the Thomas activities or riding on Thomas.

You should plan to arrive about 45 minutes before your train ride to have time to park, enter, use the restroom, and walk to the train depot which is not at the entrance. There is also a photo opportunity before your ride.

Greenfield Village

My daughter has loved visiting Greenfield Village since our first trip to Thomas when she was 2. By 4 she was as interested in the historic buildings as she was in the Thomas activities. A couple of years ago, Greenfield Village added a playground which is a huge hit with the kids. Be sure to check my Greenfield Village Activity Review for information on fun activities (besides Thomas) and dining at Greenfield Village
