For ages 6+.

  • Monday (Mar 30): Bird Origami – Make a beautiful woven origami bird with Dave Strenski.
  • Tuesday (Mar 31): Bird Window Decals – Create unique window decals that help birds avoid collision with glass surfaces.
  • Wednesday (Apr 1): Should I Stay or Should I Go Now? Through a series of STEAM stations, learn to identify local bird species, and explore and compare the different survival strategies of seasonal birds vs. year-round residents.
  • Thursday (Apr 2): Ecosystem Comparison – With tools from Huron-Clinton Metropark, measure the differences between the varied habitats around the library. Then figure out what this means for the birds that call your library home.

Ypsi Family Reads

The Ypsi Family Read program encourages kids and adults to read together with a “One Community, One Book” model. Each spring they choose a book and encourage the community to read, talk, and learn together. For 2026, they chose birding as a topic with 3 books at different reading levels:

  • Chapter Book: The Secret Language of Birds by Lynne Kelly
  • Early Reader: Mouse and Mole: Fine Feathered Friends by Wong Herbert Yee
  • Picture Book: Sparrow Loves Birds by Murry Burgess
