The Kelsey’s “Read and Look” program is a great first trip to the museum—providing visitors with opportunities to explore past and present cultures and connect with others. This event is free and open to everyone but is intended for children ages 4–8.
Discover the art, inventions, and history of ancient Rome with The Magnificent Book of Treasures: Ancient Rome, written by Stella Caldwell with illustrations by Eugenia Nobati. Perfect for history enthusiasts of all ages, this beautifully illustrated book takes readers on a journey across the Roman Empire through dozens of iconic artifacts; stories of gladiator battles and chariot races; and tales of myth, monsters, magic, and more. Afterward, we’ll explore the Kelsey Museum’s Roman galleries to see if we can spot some of the objects, people, and themes discussed in the book.
