Humane Society of Huron Valley
“Love starts here” is the Humane Society of Huron Valley’s motto, and they offer lots of youth activities to foster compassion—not to mention entertain! Both animal-loving and animal-fearing kiddos can benefit from a variety of programs at the modernized shelter.
Tiny Lions lounge and adoption Center
Ann Arbor’s cat café, the Tiny Lions lounge and adoption Center (or “TLC” for short!) is an offshoot of the Humane Society of Huron Valley—a place where kids young and old can visit with kittens and cats in a comfy space. While all the felines there are available for adoption, there are no strings attached!
What is Story Time?
Each Storytime program is a little different. The central component is storytelling, Especially for younger children, many story times will also include music.
When my daughter was a baby, we loved the Ann Arbor District Library Baby Playgroup. This storytime/playgroup is designed for babies and toddlers up to age 2. It started with songs and storytelling. Then, there would be about 40 minutes of play with the library’s toys. Baby playgroup wrapped up with cleaning up the toys and one last song- usually Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.
Where Can I Find a Storytime Near Me?
The best place to find a storytime near you is your local library. Are you wondering when are “Library story times near me?” The best place to check is your local library. But, we do try to keep story times from Washtenaw County libraries on our calendar.
The Humane Society of Huron Valley currently offers stories at both the main shelter and the Tiny Lions Cat Cafe.
Bookstores are also great locations for story times. In recent months, Schuler Books and Booksweet have offered story time events on a limited basis.
