Ann Arbor Halloween is a very busy time. Over the years, I’ve discovered that there are tons of great events. Plus, it is always the month that generates the most page views on Ann Arbor with Kids. With this in mind, I’ve compiled the 2016 Ann Arbor Halloween Guide.
My Favorite Ann Arbor Halloween Events
For years my favorite Ann Arbor Halloween event is the Main Street Treat Parade. I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since we’ve participated (we last participated in 2011 when my daughter was in Kindergarten).
Now that my daughter has gotten older, one of our favorite Halloween activities is the UM Museum of Natural History’s Family Halloween Party held the Sunday before Halloween. Be warned that it is typically a very crowded event – and probably more so this year since the museum will be closed for a 2018. It is best to arrive early.
My Pick for a Newer Event
Last year was the first year for ypsiGLOW. ypsiGLOW is from WonderFool Productions – the organizers of FestiFools and FoolMoon. On Friday, October 27 there will be a procession of illuminated art, live music, etc on Washington St. in Downtown Ypsilanti. My daughter and I had a great time at last year’s inaugural event.
Events Beyond the Ann Arbor Area
Beyond the immediate Ann Arbor area, there are a few other great events that are worth a trip.
We can’t wait to go to Halloween at Greenfield Village again this year. Get your tickets now because many time slots are sold out.
The Toledo Zoo’s Little Boo at the Zoo and Pumpkin Path are great events that my daughter always loved. Unfortunately our schedule is so busy with sports and scouts that we haven’t had the time to attend Pumpkin Path in recent years.
Cedar Point also offers fun Halloweekends with the spooky Haunt at night and the kid-friendly Great Pumpkin Fest during the day. Plus, there are plenty of thrills with the roller coasters.
