Event Description

WAPUR, Washtenaw Area Pick-Up Robotics, is where High School Robotics teams from the FIRST Robotics Competition League throw together a large wheeled robot to play fast, fun 2-on-2 matches involving pickle balls, crates, and library shelves to win a giant can of beans.

Watch some matches, meet the teams, try some robot-themed crafts, and maybe be a part of the action! Finals will begin about 5p where the winning team takes home the coveted can of beans!.

Quick Game Summary:

Field will be divided in half with library shelves & bumpers in the center. Each team will stay on their half of the field.
Teams will earn a point for each pickle ball on the opponents side at the end of the game.
Points are also awarded for pickleballs placed into buckets on the top shelf.
Teams also earn points by placing crates on the shelves. Each crate has a few books in it. To score points, the books need to stay in the crate.
Teams earn bonus points for crates in complete rows or columns
At the end of the match points will be earned for each pickleball on the opponents side of the field
The game is 10 seconds of autonomous robot action followed by 2 minutes 20 seconds of human controlled action.

Tournament Summary

The game is split into a Qualification and Playoff Phase.

Qualification Matches – 2-4:30p
- Each team will play qualifying matches.
- Your teammates and opponents change for each qualifying match
Alliance Selection
- The top 4 robots after qualification will draft their partner for Finals
Finals Matches – end around 5p
- Single elimination bracket, but if time allows each round will be a best of 3.
