Event Description

Juneteenth is a celebration of African American freedom from slavery dating back to a June 19th, 1865 proclamation in Galveston freeing all slaves in Texas.

This year’s Ann Arbor Juneteenth celebration will look a little different with social distancing.

Everyone is invited to join a one-mile walk for racial justice from Fuller Park along the Border to Border trail to Wheeler Park.

From noon-2p there will be featured speakers, videos, and a time for reflection. The presentations will also be available virtually (email volunteer@a2gov.org to register).

Participants are encouraged to wear masks and remain 6′ apart. There is a 100 person limit for the in-person event.
