I Spy Science: Ecology Safari

Join YDL for an outdoor nature hunt, including an ecological survey w/hula hoops. Young patrons will place a hula hoop in a chosen outdoor area and carefullly observe the plants and animals within its boundary and make their own field guide. Using an activity sheet, they will record all the different species they find. After completing their survey, they will reflect on their findings by answering questions on a separate worksheet. 

Then, hear a live story from one of Black Men Read’s guests– scientists, readers, innovators, and more! Using hands-on exploration alongside storytime, STEM & Stories helps children build new STEM vocabulary, confidence, and curiosity while seeing themselves reflected as thinkers, builders, and creators. All children and families are welcome.
