Most Parks are free. Most of spring break is forecasted to be warm – although there is a fair bit of rain in the forecast. But, if you don’t mind getting a little wet or muddy, they can be a great choice. Check out our Mess-Free Playgrounds for those that feature non-mulch surfaces.
Ann Arbor Parks is running several free events this spring break! Hopps the Bunny will be visiting a different park each weekday from 10-11a for photos and crafts before Hop, Skip, Spring! on Saturday at Gallup Park. All of the events are free – although you do have to register for Saturday’s event.

The Library is one of my best suggestions for free family fun. All of the local libraries are running great events during spring break! And if your children are old enough, you may be able to work while they craft, learn and watch.
Catch a Free Event at UM
Did you know that UM’s School of Music, Theater, & Dance has numerous performances a week. While the big shows require paid tickets, there are many student recitals that are free and do not require a ticket. You can find performances on the UM calendar. A few examples are:
- Tuesday, March 31 at 8p – Contemporary Directions Ensemble at Earl V. Moore Building
- Wednesday, April 1 at 8p – Whitney Corpany, chamber trumpet at Walgreens Drama Center
- Friday, April 3 – Afro-X at 6:30p – CCCB
Select UM Sports are free to attend!
- Women’s Tennis – vs Ohio State on Wednesday, April 1
- Women’s Lacrosse vs Ohio State on Thursday, April 2
Men’s Tennis and Track and Field (Men’s & Women’s) are also free to attend, but are out of town during spring break. Men’s Lacrosse does charge an admission fee.
