Event Description

Matthaei Botanical Gardens hosts free guided nature walks on select Wednesdays and Sundays.

Seed Saving – As the warm, dry days and cool nights begin, Fall presents the perfect time to harvest native plant seeds, a sustainable practice that not only preserves seeds at the local level but also helps build lasting relationships with the land and the birds, butterflies, moths, and other animals that depend on native plants for survival. Join MBGNA Native Plant Horticulturist Calla Butler as we collect seed and learn the process for sustainable seed collection, care for seeds, and propagation plans to attract beautiful butterflies, birds, and other wildlife to your garden.

Walks are designed for all ages. If there is a large mixed-age group they may split into two sets to offer different levels of engagement. Adults must stay with their children.

No registration required. They recommend gathering 10 min early in the lobby of the Gardens.

Ivybrook Academy - Kids lay on carpet watching a science experiment of water in a clear vase with blue liquid swirled in.
