Event Description

Veteran musicians on the Detroit jazz scene perform jazz standards, swing tunes, funky boogaloo, and New Orleans traditional jazz.

James O’Donnell on trumpet and vocals. James has traveled around the globe playing his horn and singing. He met drummer Bob Sweet and bassist Kurt Krahnke in the early 1980’s when all three were in a band called the Sun Messengers. James met guitarist Oliver Nevels a few years later. These are veteran musicians on the Detroit jazz scene. The band presents a program of jazz standards, swing tunes, funky boogaloo, and New Orleans traditional jazz.
