  globe playing his horn and singing. He met drummer Bob Sweet and bassist 
 Kurt Krahnke in the early 1980’s when all three were in a band called th
 e Sun Messengers. James met guitarist Oliver Nevels a few years later. The
 se are veteran musicians on the Detroit jazz scene. The band presents a pr
 ogram of jazz standards\, swing tunes\, funky boogaloo\, and New Orleans t
