Event Description

Come learn about Ann Arbor Open! They will share information about kindergarten & middle school, and will be open for all prospective families to tour the building. Doors open at 5:45pm. The lottery for kindergarten enrollment is open and closes on 1/9/26.

6:00-6:25pm- Y5/Kinder info in auditorium then tour Kinder/Y5 rooms
6:00-6:15pm Tour #1- Those interested in grades 1-6
6:15-6:30pm- Tour #2- Those interested in grades 7/8
6:30-6:45pm- Tour #3- Specials/Electives for all grade levels
6:30-7:00pm- Middle School Information in Auditorium with an alumni panel

Ann Arbor Public Schools offers Kindergarten and Young Fives Roundups for each elementary school.

Should I bring my Child to an AAPS Kindergarten Roundup?

Good question! I suggest calling the school you plan to visit and see what they recommend. When we attended my child found most of it boring and there was little value in bringing her. But, that was a long time ago – she’s now a freshman at UM.

Which School Open House Should I Attend?

Within the Ann Arbor Public Schools, elementary attendance is defined by where you live. The AAPS Attendance Area by Street will help you find your neighborhood school. If you are considering an in-district transfer, school of choice, or lottery at Ann Arbor Open, plan to attend a couple of schools.

What is the difference between In-District Transfer and. School of Choice?

In District Transfer is for a student who resides within the bounds of Ann Arbor Public School District and chooses to enroll in a school other than the school assigned by their home address.

School of Choice is for a student who resides outside of the Ann Arbor Public School District boundaries and opts to attend a Ann Arbor Public School.

You need to apply for either option by the specified dates. Both are limited to schools that have capacity.
