Trunk or Treats
Trunk or Treats are a special class of Trick or Treat events. Cars will be parked and decorated for Halloween. You will go car to car to collect candy and other treats. Trunk or Treats are included in our Trick or Treat Events below, but can also be found in our Trunk or Treat article.
Our Favorite Trick or Treat Events
There are a couple of Trick or Treat events that I wanted to highlight.
Trick or Treat on the River is a fun event out of the Gallup Park Canoe Livery. You’ll trick or treat along the river. My daughter and I had a great time when we attended in 2019. We are so glad that it is returning in 2022 after a 2 year hiatus.
The Main Street Ann Arbor area hosts a Trick or Treat every year. Traditionally it was held on Halloween or the Friday before when it was on the weekend. After a 2020 hiatus, the event returned on Halloween Sunday in 2021. With Halloween on Monday this year, it remains on the weekend – Sunday, October 30.
My daughter and I loved attending the Halloween Treat Parade when she was a toddler and preschooler. While I miss the focus of the event on the younger kids, I am glad to see that all kids can participate this year.
You can find the list of participating businesses including those participating including those participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project. Businesses participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project will have non-food treats to accommodate children with food allergies.

Halloween at Greenfield Village is always a fun event and held multiple nights in October. Traditionally the event was a set-path for trick or treating with the buildings closed. When they brought the event back post-pandemic, they introduced a new free-roaming event. Unfortunately the event sold out very quickly in both 2021 and 2022.
The Toledo Zoo holds two trick or treat events every October. Little Boo at the Zoo is just for toddlers and preschoolers and is held during the day on Thursday and Friday. Pumpkin Path is for kids of all ages on a Saturday and Sunday. We attended both when my daughter was younger and loved the events.
The Detroit Zoo holds Zoo Boo every October with Trick or Treating. Zoo Boo is held several weekends in October. We never attended as we were Toledo Zoo members,
