My family loves Ann Arbor Restaurant Week. We take the opportunity to try new restaurants and return to some of our favorites. The Ann Arbor Restaurant Week Summer 2019 begins on Sunday, June 9 and runs through Friday, June 14. This year, it runs during the last week of school which means that Friday is the only day that we can do a family lunch.
Over the years, Restaurant Week has grown in popularity in Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor Restaurant Week started with restaurants in the Main Street Area Association. After gaining popularity, it has expanded beyond the Main Street Area. Ann Arbor Restaurant Week now includes restaurants throughout Ann Arbor.

How Restaurant Week Works
During Restaurant Week participating restaurants offer fixed price lunches and dinners. Lunch is typically two courses while dinner is typically 3 courses. Some of the less expensive restaurants offer 2 for 1 pricing. If you have an odd number, some 2 for 1 restaurants will allow you to do half-price for the odd person. Others require an even number for participation, especially when the meal includes shared items.
Changes for Summer 2019 Restaurant Week
There are a few changes for Summer 2019. The lunch price has increased to $18 ($15 in previous years). Dinner remains at $28, but there is a new Chef’s Choice dinner option for $38. Menus are just starting to be announced, so I have not seen any restaurants including the Chef’s Choice option yet.
The list of participating Restaurants is available online. The website includes menus for each restaurant. They also include hours and participating days. Some restaurants exclude Sunday lunch or are closed on Mondays. I suggest making reservations in advance when possible as Restaurant Week tends to be crowded. Some restaurants have expanded reservation options during Restaurant Week.
Past Restaurant Week Experiences
In Summer 2017, my husband and I met for lunch at Isalita on Thursday and discovered that Sonic Lunch happens that day. Be sure to factor road closures and additional parking difficulties into your lunch plans for Thursday.
Our goal during Restaurant Week is both to try a new restaurant and return to a favorite restaurant. Check out our reviews of some restaurants participating in Ann Arbor Restaurant Week:

Our Ann Arbor Restaurant Week Summer 2019 Plans
We are lucky that our anniversary typically falls during Restaurant Week – unfortunately it is the day after it ends this year. We need to review the menus and our schedule and make some choices for Restaurant Week. We will also need to factor in Top of the Park which starts on June 14.
