Event Description

A close examination of how Detroiters like Albert Kahn, Julius Melchers, Minoru Yamasaki and Marshall Fredericks contributed to numerous World’s Fairs throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Fairs with Detroit connections discussed include London’s Crystal Palace Exhibition of 1851, Philadelphia’s Centennial International Exhibition of 1876, Detroit’s International Exposition of 1889, Chicago’s World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 and World’s Fair of 1934, New York’s World’s Fairs of 1939 and 1964, and Seattle’s Century 21 Exhibition of 1962.
