Does your child want to learn archery? There are a number of local events offering an introduction to archery.
My daughter had a chance to learn Archery at Ann Arbor Open School through the National Archery in Schools Program (administered by the DNR in Michigan). She started taking archery in gym class in 3rd grade and was on the school archery team from 4th-8th grade. Several Washtenaw County schools are listed as participating on the state’s website:

- Mitchell Elementary
- Summers-Knoll
- Rudolph Steiner School of Ann Arbor
My daughter has also had the chance to visit the archery range when camping with Girl Scouts. My guess is that Boy Scouts would also offer archery, but I am not familiar with their programs.
Most of the introductory archery programs have a minimum age of 8.

In pre-pandemic times, Washtenaw County 4-H offered an archery club on Tuesdays. Their October 2021 newsletter says it will resume in April. The October 2021 newsletter is the most recent on their website. Contact them for more details.
Washtenaw Sportsman Club
Washtenaw Sportsman Club offers Junior Archery on Saturday mornings. 8:30=10a is reserved for kids 11 & under to shoot from 10 yards. 10:30a-noon is for kids 12 & older to shoot from 20 yards. It costs $5/participant or $10/family and includes use of equipment. They are located at 5095 Ellis Rd, Ypsilanti.
Note: Their website describing Junior Archery lists the 2020 season and release, but the calendar shows events through April 9, 2022. I reached out by email and it bounced back. They say the phone is only answered during events.
Tri County Sportsman League
Their archery range is open for members only. A junior membership is relatively inexpensive ($35), but I am not sure if a parent needs to be a member ($170). Tri-County Sportsman League is located at 8640 Moon Rd, Saline.
