Camp Raanana has served as the premiere Jewish day camp in the Ann Arbor area, beginning in 1972 with only a handful of children. Since then, camp has blossomed and now serves nearly 150 Jewish and non-Jewish families in the Ann Arbor and Chelsea areas each summer. Our daily engagement with the environment through activities like swimming, archery, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and hiking instill in our campers a relationship with, and responsibility and appreciation for, nature, as well as a healthy zeal for adventure. Our incorporation of the visual and performing arts in our daily routine through activities like music, painting, drama, and dance encourage self-expression, while our incorporation of athletics like baseball, soccer and volleyball help foster an attitude of healthy competition, physical fitness, and teamwork. Our engaging weekly electives and inventive “Wacky Wednesday” programming serve to diversify and spice up our weekly schedule, as well as allow our children to do something new and exciting each week and simply enjoy being kids. Most importantly, our core values of respect, independence, passion, creativity, kindness, and friendship promote our “mensch”- centric culture, while our Atid Leadership Program ensures that our children learn character and qualities that go far beyond camp. Together, Camp Raanana serves to foster the growth of generations of children into healthy, balanced, driven, curious, capable and innovative young adults, with appreciation for the arts and the outdoors, who go on to help cultivate these qualities in the communities in which they live. Please see our website here for more information about our executive staff, daily activities, weekly programming, and optional overnights.
