For Washtenaw County’s 200th anniversary, they are sponsoring tours led by the African American Cultural and Historical Museum of Washtenaw County.

The tour is free, but you should register in advance.

Celebrate Juneteenth in Ann Arbor

Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19. In recent years, events honoring Juneteenth have increased and several camps have chosen to treat the day as a holiday.

Juneteenth is a celebration of African American freedom from slavery dating back to June 19th, 1865 when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas.
