Come meet the legend and unsung hero of the Detroit illustration and graphic design scene, Dave Chow. Hear his firsthand insights and practical advice about working as an illustrator and graphic designer in Metro Detroit and beyond. Dave will be talking, drawing, and highlighting some of his most notable work.
Dave Chow has worked for major advertising agencies, automotive manufacturers, music producers, and filmmakers, with credits that include more than 17 Super Bowl commercials and illustrated sequences for Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” A long-serving faculty member at the College for Creative Studies, Dave has developed courses in storyboarding and visual communication and has mentored many successful graduates. He remains active in Detroit’s cultural landscape, curating exhibitions, jurying Scholastic competitions, appearing on The Dead Files as a sketch artist, and contributing to Detroit’s historic comic and tiki communities.
