Celebrate New Year’s Day with a hike on the Hickory Ridge Trail at Island Lake Recreation Area.
If conditions permit, it will be led by those on snow shoes. But even in snow, your hiking boots will do just fine..
The trail is 5 miles with an easy exit at 2.5 miles. If conditions are good, the main hiking group will cover the whole 5 miles. If it is snowy, the main group will probably exit at 2.5 miles and let the hard core tackle the whole 5 miles.
They recommend arriving 15 minutes early. The hike will leave on time and is typically a large group. You may need to park in the overflow lot
