Celebrate New Years at Home

We typically celebrate at home especially with college football on. Although last year, we were at Disney World over New Years and rang in the New Year on the bus back to our hotel.

Growing up, I remember the early days of home VCRs and heading to the rental store to stock up on several choices for the night. Instead of a dinner, we would have snacks/appetizers all night.

While we don’t have a VCR or video stores anymore, a movie night at home with the family is also a great way to celebrate New Years Eve.

Game Night is also a fun option for a long evening. Break out your favorite games – or some new ones you got for Christmas. Let each member of the family take turns selecting the game.

When my brother’s family is in town over New Years, we have a big family party at my parents. Even at 5 my daughter and her 3 year old cousin could stay awake and celebrate. A couple years we had a family NERF battle.

If you don’t have family in town, invite your friends over for a family party. You could also be the real hero and invite just the kids friends over and let their parents go out.
