Events from our Sponsors

Trustees, I’d like to call a recess. Let’s take a 15 minute recess

Querijero: If we could perhaps not indicate a time of the recess but just call to ensure we can proceed safely.

Gaynor: Can we ask the 2 members of the audience to leave or put on a mask?

Lazarus: Yes. We have.

Gaynor: And they have refused.

Lazarus: Yes.

Gaynor: Do we have any other recourse?

Lazarus: Yes we do.

Gaynor: Besides calling a recess?

Lazarus: Yes we do and we are calling a recess.

Recess started at 7:07p. It is still ongoing as of 8:10p

Meeting is in recess until 7p on March 2.

AAPS posted a statement to the Zoom feed.

“The Ann Arbor Public Schools Board of Education meeting has been recessed to 7:00pm. on March 2, 2022

Regrettably, attendees at the meeting venue on February 23, 2022, created an atmosphere that was not aligned with the values of health, safety, and respect for our vulnerable community members.

It was clearly stated and posted that everyone who attends or participates in Board of Education meetings will adhere to Ann Arbor Public Schools District’s indoor masking requirement. The individuals refused multiple requests to wear masks thus prompting a recess.

Notice of the location for the reconvened meeting will be forthcoming pursuant to the requirements of theOpen Meetings Act.

We are sorry for the inconvenience to so many caused by so few. The Board looks forward to conducting its business next week.
