This summer Nature’s Garden Center has held several Fairy Gardening Classes for Kids (they also offer classes for adults). The store offers a great stock of fairy garden supplies as well as other yard and garden supplies.
Disclaimer: Since my posts about Nature Garden Center’s Fairy Day and Fairy Gardening class, I was given a free Fairy Garden class for my daughter and a friend. All opinions are 100% mine.
My daughter and a friend attended Tuesday’s Fairy Day class and loved it.
When we arrived, there were fairy coloring sheets and crayons setup on the tables. After everyone arrived, the teacher started with a lesson about fairies and fairy gardens. It was a perfect setup since the kids could continue to color (especially the younger ones) and listen at the same time.
Then we headed outside to check out the fairy garden plants. We got to see several types of plants as well as miniature and full size versions of a couple of plants. Then each child got to pick the plant that they wanted to use in their fairy garden. Once everyone had picked out their plant, we headed inside to plant them.
Once inside, each child was given an empty planter container with a lantern, turtle, and either a cat or dog (and the chance to swap them). My daughter’s planter contained a dog which she switched for a cat. They were given packing peanuts to put in the bottom of the planter to help manage the water in case they are over watered. (What a great idea, I never knew this would work.) Then the containers were filled with soil and the plants were placed in them. Each child was then able to add their accessories.
If you wanted to add extra accessories to your child’s garden, all fairy garden accessories were 20% off for class attendees. They were also offering 15% off of other in-store purchases. I purchased my daughter and her friend an extra cat for each of their gardens. I offered a bench too, but they wanted the extra animal.
My daughter loved finding a place for her fairy garden when we got home.
I definitely recommend the class for kids ages 5 up to about 10 or 12. The class was mostly girls, but there was at least one boy there. They do not currently have another class scheduled but are planning to have more classes in the future.
They are also having a Fall Fest on Sunday, September 30 that sounds like fun.
