This weekend the Toledo Zoo is opening Tembo Trail with a series of fun activities all weekend.
Tembo Trail is the new elephant experience and replaces the old Savanna path. In addition to the elephants, you will encounter hippos, rhinos, white lions, meerkats, and more along the path. I look forward to this addition as it has been several years of construction in the area beginning with the new elephant enclosure which opened last summer.
Activities each day include musical acts and elephant enrichment. On Saturday they will have
- 10:30a-3:30p Africa-themed Education Activities & Crafts at the Tembo Trail main entrance
- 11a-12:30p Radio Disney at the Main Plaza
- 11a-2p Kids Cultural Crafts & Activities throughout the zoo
The Africa-Themed Education Activities & Crafts will also be run from 10:30a-3:30p on Sunday.
My membership to the zoo expired over the winter and I have yet to renew it. My daughter has a field trip planned for the zoo in June, so we are looking forward to seeing the new trail then.
