Tuptim Thai Cuisine is our favorite Thai restaurant in Ann Arbor. During the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown we ordered from them several times and had great pickup service. When you arrived you would call and they would place your food outside on a cart with condiments. No need to enter the restaurant. They now offer indoor dining again, but are still doing a robust takeout business – but you have to go to the counter inside for pickup.

Appetizers
In checking out the appetizers, my husband saw a new appetizer, Duck Tenders and wanted to try them. My daughter instantly gravitated to the Chicken Satay. We ordered both since my daughter isn’t a big fan of duck. The duck tenders were good – and not too spicy even though they had a Sriracha sauce.
The Chicken Satay was quite good. With 3 skewers, it was the perfect serving size for our family of 3. I also enjoyed the vegetables served with the satay.
Personally, I wanted to try the Crab Rangoon or Coconut Shrimp appetizers. But, I thought 3 appetizers was too much for the 3 of us.
We each ordered an entree for dinner. Their portions are large, so we each brought half home for tomorrow night’s dinner.
I ordered Pad Thai with chicken. I like that they offer a protein choice for the Pad Thai. Over the years, I have ordered it with chicken, shrimp, and tofu. There was a generous portion of chicken in my dish. It was definitely not short on the chicken. I opted for mild since I am not a fan of hot dishes.
My daughter ordered Fried Rice A La Hawaiian – fried rice with pineapple, spam, onions, egg, peas, and carrots. I was a little unsure of how she would like it with spam, but she reminded me that she ordered it on our last visit. She really enjoyed her dinner. (Note: Hawaiian fried rice now comes with your choice of protein with spam as one of the options)
My husband had the Spicy Basil Chicken. He ordered it at a medium spicy level. It definitely wasn’t a dish for me. One bite had me reaching for my water glass!
Tuptim is a great choice when you have a group that includes meat-eaters, pescetarians, and vegetarians. There are a number of options for each group (note vegetarians may need to order dishes without fish sauce)
