Tonight my daughter and I attended the Townie Street Party to kick off Art Fair week.
We arrived around 6:15 with plans to have dinner and visit the art activities. My daughter wanted to jump right in to the art activities so we decided to eat later.
She had a lot of fun with the a projects. Thank you to MetroParent and MESP for providing a bag. It was perfect for my daughter to carry her crafts in. I am definitely planning to bring a back next time.
She enjoyed making a bubble wand with the UM Conceptual Development Lab, a bracelet with the Jewish Community Center, an owl at the Leslie Science and Nature Center, and a tile with Motawi Tileworks. She also stamped her name in hieroglyphics with the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology.
For some reason, she had zero interest in the paper bag hat station. She did ask about the face painting by 2Clowns and the hair spray that Sonic Lunch was providing. Since she is in camp this week and was tired this afternoon, I discouraged them so she wouldn’t need a shower when we got home.
Some of the same crafts will be at the Art Activity Zone once the Art Fair begins.
By the time she was done with activities, the dark clouds had rolled in. Instead of ending up drenched with soggy plates, we decided to head to the car while we were dry and get food on our way home. Sure enough it started raining while we were half-way down Washtenaw to Arborland. While we were having dinner there, it started pouring complete with thunder and lightening.
Hopefully, no one got too wet if they were there when the rain started.
