Last year my daughter and I attended the Saline Celtic Festival with my parents for the first time. I created the following video from our visit.
Event Highlights
We had a great time at the Saline Celtic Festival. We started by watching the jousting tournament. Then we moved on to the Wee Folks Island where my daughter listened to a story from Merida, made a fairy crown and a fairy door, played mini-golf, and more. She even took some time to wade in the creek before the duck race. Finally, we took some time at the Highland Games area. She enjoyed watching the caber toss and weight over the bar. We only had a limited time at the Saline Celtic Festival, so we didn’t have a chance to visit all of the activities. This year, we are going to try to leave more time for activities (or spend less time on the Wee Folks Island since my daughter is getting older).
2015 Saline Celtic Festival
The 2015 Saline Celtic Festival will be held on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 at Mill Pond Park in Saline. Friday night is typically Pub Night with the main activities occurring on Saturday.
Wee Folks Island is open from noon-5p on Saturday, July 11. There will be games, crafts, duck races, Stories with Merida, and a 4:30 parade.
The Fly Wire Zip Line will operate from 5-11p on Friday and 11a-11p on Saturday. Rides are $10 for one person or $18 for two. I know my daughter would love the zip line.
We loved watching the Highland Games and jousting last year and definitely recommend them.
Gaelic Football will only be played on Friday night.
Be sure to check the Celtic Festival’s website for more information.
Getting to Saline Celtic Festival – At Mill Pond Park
There are several options for getting to the Saline Celtic Festival at Mill Pond Park. You can park in a lot and take a shuttle to the festival or you can park in the adjacent neighborhood. Since we had plans for after the Festival, we parked in the neighborhood so we would have more control over our schedule. Some houses were charging for parking on their lawn, but if you are willing to walk a little further you can find free parking on the street.
