We took a daytrip today up to Great Lakes Crossing (about an hour away). We were in search of a Disney Store. They have a Disney Store Outlet where we did quite well. They also had a Gap outlet, a Gymboree outlet, a Children’s Place outlet, Carters, and Osh Kosh stores, among others.
We had lunch at Rainforest Cafe and she was intrigued by all of the animals but not too sure when they started to grunt or when they had a thunderstorm (no rain) every 1/2 hour. The butterflies were her favorite, but she was disappointed that they had no turtles. Even the bathrooms got into the theme with murals painted on the walls. She had to use the frog stall and not the chimp stall. The kids meals were a bit pricey, but with the sandwiches you could get a banana or applesauce instead of fries and the price did include the drink. We splurged and split the volcano chocolate cake which is served with a sparkler erupting.
The mall has a food court with a carousel in it. There was also a restaurant with games and rides, but we steered her clear of that since we had done a carnival yesterday.
Before going, you might want to consult a map. Our GPS directions had us exit I-696 at Orchard Lake and take that to Telegraph. With local traffic and lights, we ended up arriving 15 minutes later than the projected time when we got off of the highway. Going home, we got on I-75 and took that to I-696. When we took the detour, the GPS added 5 minutes to our projected time. We figure we made out ahead because we did not lose time at the lights.
