Ann Arbor Snow Storm Updates – January 25

The Ann Arbor area is being hit with a snow storm on Sunday, January 25. While it is our largest storm this year, we are lucky to only be on the northern edge of the storm. We have family getting much more snow in Ohio & Pennsylvania. And my friends in the south are getting ice under the snow.

Still 3-6″ is a lot of snow for Ann Arbor particularly when the temperatures are as far below freezing as they are this week.

Our updates below will help you plan for the snow and know what has been affected.

Ann Arbor On-Street Parking Ban

Ann Arbor is instituting an On-Street Parking Ban starting at 8p on Sunday, January 25. This will help them plow city streets more efficiently.

Ann Arbor Street Parking Ban & Other Storm Updates

The City of Ann Arbor is issuing an on-street parking ban due to the snow storm and frigid conditions on January 25. They are also managing expectations on road clearing, and have an update on trash collection. Ann Arbor Trash Update I have seen several social media posts and articles about the on-street parking ban. […]

School Closures

The worst of the storm is forecast to be over by Sunday evening. The City of Ann Arbor does plan to have crews working around the clock to clear roads including residential roads. Washtenaw County does not typically plow residential roads on the weekend or overnight.

Schools across the region are closed on Monday, January 26.

As of 8p I don’t see an announcement from Ypsilanti Community Schools – I checked their website homepage, Facebook, and and the local NBC & ABC websites.

Outdoor Activities – Maybe Save for the Next Snow Day

Road Conditions

Expect road conditions to not be great with this storm. Temperatures are below the point that salt is effective. Plus, many neighborhood and side streets are going into the storm with packed snow from previous storms this week.

At Home Ideas

Does your child have any upcoming school projects? We have spent many snow days working on a science fair project. Of course for students at middle and high schools on the semester schedule, it is a good time to study for exams that are looming next week.

Baking is always a fun way to spend the day as well – as long as you have the ingredients.

Please stay indoors tomorrow. The wind chills will be dangerous outside!
