Are you looking for a COVID test or vaccine clinic in the Ann Arbor area? We are keeping a list of upcoming events that are open to the general public or large sub-groups.
COVID Vaccines Availability
All adults and teens age 16+ are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. When I got my first shot in March, vaccine appointments were still difficult to make. However, availability has increased with demand decreasing due to those already vaccinated. Now, there are several vaccine clinics available each week.
There are currently 3 vaccines available in Michigan:
- Pfizer – Ages 16+ – Two shot series with a 3 week gap
- Moderna – Ages 18+ – Two shot series with a 4 week gap
- Johnson & Johnson – Ages 18+ – One shot
The Johnson & Johnson shot was temporarily suspended while the FDA reviewed blood clot cases. Use of the shot has resumed with a warning about blood clots primarily in women.
Pfizer has completed their testing of the COVID-19 shot in ages 12-15 and submitted it to the FDA for approval. Personally, we are hopeful this will be soon so our 15 year old can be vaccinated.
Receiving the vaccine is a great way to build up herd immunity and to help combat the variants that are developing as COVID spreads. Governor Whitmer has announced that lifting of restrictions is tied to community immunization rates (with an exception for regions with high cases). With the vaccine, you will be able to take less precautions. While my husband and I are vaccinated, we are still cautious since our daughter is not able to be vaccinated yet.
Ann Arbor Area Walk-In COVID Vaccine Clinics
We are currently only listing vaccine clinics that are available for walk-ins. If you wish to make an appointment, I suggest checking pharmacies and your health care provider. CVS (where I received mine), Meijer, Kroger, Walmart, Walgreens, and Rite Aid are all options. I have heard that Meijer locations also have 100 walk in doses daily.
Be sure to check each listing for age and other requirements.
Ann Arbor Area Walk-In COVID Testing
There are multiple COVID testing options in the Ann Arbor area. Both my husband and I have had tests done at the Michigan Medicine drive-through testing at the Huron Valley Ambulance site on State Circle. However, this testing location requires a prescription. My husband had one after a COVID exposure and I had one before a medical procedure.
The testing sites below do not require a testing order. They will take insurance, and there may be a charge without it.
- Saliva Testing
Check for testing options at various pharmacies and urgent care sites. Some may have age restrictions or be prioritized to certain groups. The Washtenaw County Health Department lists some of these sites.
