Happy Independence Day! Arbor Annie has all the details to help you plan your day – from parades to fireworks to other activities.

Arbor Annie’s Fourth of July Planner
The day starts early in Ann Arbor with the Firecracker 5K. There is a kids race – and you can still sign up or show up to cheer on the runners.
For many families, parades are the kick-off to the day. We love the Ann Arbor Jaycees Parade. It has a new route this year, so be sure to check out the details and get our tips for attending. After the parade stop in at the Firefighter’s Spray Park on Maynard and Washtenaw Dairy’s 85th Year Celebration.

There are also parades in Whitmore Lake and Ypsilanti.
It’s scheduled to be another hot day. Cool off at a local pool, water park, or spray ground. They’re all open on Fourth of July, but can be crowded. Also, be sure to keep an eye on the weather. There’s a chance of scattered thunderstorms again.

Fourth of July is the last day for Strawberry picking at Rowe’s. Slow Farm is closed for the weekend. Fresh strawberries would be a great addition to your Fourth of July BBQ.

If the storms come, movie theaters are a great way to spend time indoors. Quality 16 has their Free Morning Movie – Hotel Transylvania 3 at 10a. Spiderman opened on Tuesday and should be a great choice for tweens & older. We aren’t seeing it until Friday so I don’t have a review to share yet. Toy Story 4 is a good option for all ages.

Yes, Top of the Park is held on Fourth of July. The KidZone Tent is Independence Day Activities with Harvest Mission Church. Music on the 4th is provided by Brain Plasticity Ukulele Collective, Chris DuPont, Laura Rain & The Caesars, Lady Sunshine & The X-Band. The night ends with Bohemian Rhapsody as the movie.

My favorite way to wrap up the holiday is with Fireworks. Saline Fireworks is the big scheduled fireworks event. I know my neighborhood usually has a couple of groups setting off fireworks which makes an impressive show. I have heard that the Burns Park and Hunt Park neighborhoods usually have people setting off displays.

Don’t forget to check out our list of What is Open or Closed on July 4th.
