Event Description

The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum has brought back their My Turn program that provides Sensory Friendly Hours to visit the Museum. My Turn hours are 3-5p on the the last Wednesday of the month from March-May 2026.

Thanks to the generosity of community funders, My Turn will be free of charge for families during March, April, and May. Advance registration is required so our team can maintain a comfortable capacity and provide the best possible experience for all guests.

My Turn is designed for any family with a young learner who would benefit from an adapted Museum environment with additional supports in place. During the My Turn hours there will be fewer visitors at the museum. They will have designated break spaces throughout the museum and complimentary sensory bags and tools to borrow.

You can prepare your child for the visit with their Social Story that describes going to the museum.

Please pre-reserve your tickets for My Turn.

The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum offers a fun interactive visit with plenty to explore for all ages.

In August 2021 they opened STEAM Park, a brand new exhibit designed with Toyota Engineers.

The Preschool Gallery is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers to explore balls, water, and climbing. My teen was thrilled to take her cousin to this section to visit Engineers on a Roll which opened a few years after she aged out of the Preschool Gallery. Since the gallery is just for kids ages 4 and under, it is a great place for toddlers and preschoolers to escape the big kids.

Another favorite is Block Party, which was supposed to be a temporary display in 2011 and proved so popular that it is still around today. Over the years they have replaced the blocks a couple of times eventually moving to a stiffer foam.
