In this lecture, Detroit-based historian and author Anthony Brogdon focuses on the history of Black towns and settlements, including details on the first African American to own land in America, the first black community in America, major migration movements, and names of Black towns and settlements before 1865.
Anthony Brogdon is a historian and the author of Black Business Book and That’s My Land, a comprehensive book on the history of black towns and settlements. He is the host of the internationally acclaimed podcast Strong Inspirations, and producer of the nationally toured documentary Business in the Black. He has been nicknamed “The Voice of Black History.”
