Join Washtenaw Faces Race to discuss nonfiction books, articles, and reports exploring racism, privilege, discrimination, social justice, and our democracy. This group is a safe place to discuss large-scale issues and how they may affect you personally.
Participants may attend online through Zoom or in-person at YDL-Michigan. Registration is required. For further information, contact Joy Cichewicz at worksofjoy@gmail.com or ask library staff.
Sep 17: We will discuss a report by the NAACP Legal Defense Fund: What Project 2025 Means for Black Communities. This article is available to read online at https://tminstituteldf.org/what-project-2025-means-for-black-communities, and limited print copies will be available at YDL-Michigan.
Oct. 15 | Nov. 19 | Dec. 17: We will take a deep dive into the book “Why Does Everything Have to Be About Race? 25 Arguments that Won’t Go Away” by Keith Boykin (2024). This book will be available for purchase at Black Stone Bookstore and Cultural Center. Limited copies are available to borrow from YDL or through interlibrary loan (MeL.org).
